    Sunset in Tellaro

    The whole month leading up to our Italy vacation, I talked non-stop about visiting Cinque Terre and taking photos of the colorful buildings along the seaside.     Villa Garzoni

      We discovered Villa Garzoni on my last official day in Italy. Looking for a spot to have lunch, we took a drive from our hotel in Lucca to the nearby town of Collodi. Parked underneath a 10-foot tall wire Pinocchio (dreamed up by Carlo Collodi) and ventured across the street to a gorgeous upscale restaurant serving late guests.     In honor of Veteran’s Day, a fun fact about me: When I was 24, I withdrew 1700 American civilians from Beirut, Lebanon in 2006 after a bombing. I helped provide them with medical and mental support at an Air Force base in Adana, Turkey for 4 days and 5 nights until we could fly them safely back to the United States.
